power plugs at red dot gallery

Girl plug. Boy plug. Female socket, male jack. + and -
Thisath Thoradeniya toys with the gender references given equipment in the electrical and mechanical trade where connectors and fasteners are conventionally designated male or female.

By blowing up ordinary, everyday sockets and plugs, he shows us how male and female sexual symbolism can be found (or seen) in the shapes and motifs of what surround us.
His sculptures, titled 'You and Me" are made out of steel and fiberglass.
Plugs made of fiberglass; Size 18 x 18 x 16 cm.

The exhibition by Thisath Thoradeniya (curated by Anoli Perera) is on at Red Dot gallery from 15th February to 4 March. Gallery hours are from Monday to Wednesday from 11 am- 4.30 pm
